Quick answer

A dynamic QR code contains a managed short link. The printed pattern stays the same while its destination can be updated in your account. This is useful for menus, printed campaigns and contact pages that change.

What changes when you edit a dynamic QR code?

You update the destination behind the short link, not the dark squares already printed on a card or sign. For example, a campaign can move from a seasonal landing page to a replacement offer while using the same QR image.

That is different from a static code containing the final URL directly. A static image cannot be rewritten after printing. It may remain useful if you still control the same destination URL, but it has no separate QR management layer.

Design a code that remains readable

Brand colors, logos and frames should support the scan rather than obscure it. Keep a clear margin, use strong contrast and check the exported image. The QRflick designer includes a live preview and scannability checks; test a real-size print as well.

Free exports include PNG. Paid plans add vector and print formats, reusable brand kits and more design options. The free generator is a separate static tool with PNG and SVG downloads; it does not offer the full designer.

Create a maintenance routine for printed links

Name codes by campaign or placement so you can find them later. Use folders and tags to separate a window sign from a leaflet, even when both open the same offer. Separate links also let you compare activity by placement.

Before changing a destination, open the proposed page on a phone. Save the change, scan the existing code and check the full journey. Review passwords, schedules, expiry settings and any rules that could send different visitors to different destinations.

Questions, answered

Can I edit a dynamic code without reprinting?

Yes, by changing the destination of its short link. The printed image keeps encoding that same link.

Can I turn an already printed static code into a dynamic code?

You cannot change the data encoded in the printed pattern. If you own its destination URL, you may be able to update that page or its redirects separately.

Does every plan include smart redirects?

No. Smart redirects and advanced controls are part of the paid plans. The pricing page lists the differences.
