Developer guide

Create hundreds of QR codes from your own system.

Make a code for every product, table or poster from a spreadsheet or your own software, then change them all later without reprinting.

Quick answer

The QRflick REST API creates and manages dynamic QR codes from your own code. Create an API key in Settings → Developers, then send POST https://qrflick.com/api/v1/qr-codes with a type, name and payload for each code. Every code gets a short link you can change later, scan statistics and print-ready PNG, SVG, PDF and EPS files.

One request per code

Send a type, a name and the content. Add a design, folder and tags in the same request.

Safe retries

Send an Idempotency-Key header with each create request. If a request is repeated after a network error, you won’t get a duplicate code.

Print files

Download each code as PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS at the size and resolution your printer needs.

Statistics and webhooks

Read scans per day and their breakdowns, or receive a webhook when a code is created or scanned.

From idea to connection

Make it useful. Keep it current.

  1. 1 Create an API keyOpen Settings → Developers and create a key with write access. Copy it now: it is shown only once.
  2. 2 Send your first requestPOST to /api/v1/qr-codes with your key in the Authorization header.
  3. 3 Loop over your listCreate one code per row of your spreadsheet or database, with an Idempotency-Key per row.
  4. 4 Download and printFetch each code’s print file from /api/v1/qr-codes/{id}/image.

Explore the details

What does a create request look like?

POST https://qrflick.com/api/v1/qr-codes with the headers Authorization: Bearer api_… and Content-Type: application/json, and a body such as {"type": "url", "name": "Table 12", "payload": {"url": "https://example.com/menu"}, "folder": "Tables"}.

The response contains the code’s id, its short link and its full design. Store the id next to your own record so you can update the code later.

How do I create codes in bulk?

Loop over your list and send one create request per row, with a unique Idempotency-Key for each row (for example the row’s own id). Keep within your plan’s requests per minute; the API answers 429 with a Retry-After header when you go faster.

For a one-off import without code, the dashboard also imports codes from a CSV file on plans with bulk import.

How do I change a code after printing?

Send PATCH /api/v1/qr-codes/{id} with only the fields you want to change, for example a new payload. The printed code keeps working and opens the new destination.

Deleting a code with DELETE /api/v1/qr-codes/{id} makes every printed copy stop working, so pause or archive codes instead when you are unsure.

Where is the full reference?

The developers page lists every endpoint, and the OpenAPI description at https://qrflick.com/developers/openapi.json works with most API tools and code generators.

Questions, answered

Which plans include the API?

Plans with API access, shown in the pricing comparison. Your plan also sets how many requests you can send per minute.

Can I upload my logo through the API?

Yes. POST the file to /api/v1/uploads/logos and use the returned id as design.logo_upload_id.

Can I create static QR codes too?

Yes. POST /api/v1/static-qr-codes returns a static code image for any of the 12 types without saving anything in your account.
